Folk Music

Stephan has a vital interest in the folk music of his native country of Switzerland. He has collaborated with artists such as dulcimer virtuoso Nicolas Senn, yodel singer Franziska Wigger, overtone singer and alphorn player Bruno Bieri or The Swiss Brass Consort.

Sinfonische Stubete – Chammerart
A piece of symphonic proportions, it was premiered at Stubete am See, a folk music festival at Tonhalle Zürich.

Alpine Sounds – feat. Franziska Wigger and Roger Konrad

Traditional sounds such as yodelling, alphorn and talerschwingen meet contemporary beats. Watch the video here.

Schlaflied, Schottisch und Finale – Swiss Brass Consort

Suite for 10-piece brass ensemble based on Stephan’s composition Jolidulidu for choir. The piece features alphorn and büchel, traditional Swiss instruments.

Famous Swiss folk song from the canton of Uri. This is part of Stephan’s work for choir and narrator ‘Zum Teufel mit der Brücke!’ that tells the legend of the devil’s bridge.
